Going Green

Five Star Meals

Welcome to SVVSD Nutrition Services!

St. Vrain Valley School’s Nutrition Service staff believes that serving nutritious school meals is one of the main ingredients in students' ability to learn in the classroom. It's hard for students to focus when they are hungry. Our staff takes pride in providing meals that meet the USDA nutritional requirements and include as many local fresh ingredients as possible.

The Nutrition Service employees support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. Approximately 24,000 meals are produced in our kitchens each day. In the 2019-2020 school year this team produced over 3.86 million meals and snacks for students and staff using over 900,000 pounds of local fresh produce.

Members of our management team are certified in Food Safety and all department team members receive certified food safety training year-round to ensure safe food is served to our students. Our school district kitchens are proud to say that 100% of our health inspections have been perfect health inspections in the 19-20 school year.

2019-2020 School Year - Impact of Covid-19 on our Nutrition Services Team & School Community

From March to June 2020, our dedicated, essential and caring team of 140 employees provided almost a half a million (500,000)  meals to our school community. Breakfast and lunches were served curbside style at 7 of our elementary, middle and high schools. Our team was able to bring healthy & nutritious food to students while making them feel connected to their school day even when they could not be there in person. We could not be more proud and appreciative our St. Vrain team!!!
