School Wellness Policy |
The Board of Education promotes healthy schools by supporting student wellness, good nutrition and regular physical activity as part of the total learning environment. Schools contribute to the basic health status of students by facilitating learning through the support and promotion of good nutrition and physical activity. Improved health optimizes student performance potential, as students who eat well-balanced meals are healthy are more likely to learn in the classroom. |
St. Vrain has created three wellness documents to ensure compliance with USDA regulations and utilize best practices. They include: |
- School Wellness Policy - ADF
- Board approved Wellness Policy outlining district level wellness goals.
- School Wellness Procedures -741-ADF
- Procedure document that supports the goals for school wellness as stated in the Board policy. St. Vrain shall promote student wellness in accordance with these procedures.
- Smart Source Survey Tool (click title to see district information)
- Used by schools to assess their current implementation status of the wellness policy and procedures. To be completed and posted annually.
The district shall establish and maintain a district-wide School Wellness Advisory Committee, comprised of a Board of Education member, administrators, parents, community members and a nutrition/health professional, plus students and teachers where possible. The purpose of this council shall be to evaluate progress toward policy goals, recommend revisions to policy deemed necessary and/or appropriate, and serve as a resource to the district including a description of progress.
